Bray Wyatt addressed Ziggler and Ambrose
WWE Smackdown came live tonight from the Rabobank arena in Bakersfield, California as we are inching closer to the Summerslam PPV. The show kicked off with the new face of fear, Bray Wyatt continuing his demand to be fulfilled. He claimed that Smackdown is his show from now on. Ambrose showed up in the ramp to claim that he is the champion and hence it’s his show. While it looked like it is going to be two-on-one scenario against Ambrose, Ziggler came out to help the champion by attacking Rowan and Wyatt. Though, by chance, he mistimed a superkick on Ambrose. Wyatt hit the Sister Abigail on him to lay down both in the ring.
American Alpha vs. Mikey O’Shea and Mike Vega
The latest NXT imports brought the house on fire on Smackdown by taking on these two rookies. Quite easily they overcame the challenge by hitting the spear on the corner and then the Grand Amplitude. After the match, a huge brawl broke out as the Ascension, Hype Bros, and the Vaudevillains hit the ring. American Alpha toppled them all to stand tall.
Becky Lynch vs. Eva Marie turned into Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss
Eva Marie’s tantrum continues this week on Smackdown too as she suffered a wardrobe malfunction and the referee called off the match. Becky though was not willing to leave the ring and issued an open challenge which was accepted by Alexa Bliss. With Becky Lynch gaining upper-hand in the match, Eva returned to inform that she is ready to compete. The distraction allowed Bliss to hit the Twisted Bliss splash from the top turnbuckle to pick up the win.
Alberto Del Rio vs. Randy Orton
Prior to Smackdown, Orton was asked about how he is staying focused on his match against Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. Orton said that he is the Legend Killer and it only takes one RKO to take Lesnar to the ViperVille. The Viper seemed ready to take the challenge of the Essence of Excellence in a match later the night on Smackdown. The match got disqualified with Del Rio attacking Orton with a chair. But, Orton hit an RKO out of nowhere to get a huge pop from the California crowd.
Heath Slater vs. Rhyno (Winner gets Smackdown contract)
For weeks now, Heath Slater is yelling for a Smackdown contract and hence got the match. Though, in JBL’s words “The Damn Politician”, Rhyno was not easy to topple down. Slater failed to do the dirty tricks and the man-beast connected with the gore to pick up the victory.
Natalya vs. Carmella
Following last week’s attack from Natalya, it was evident that these two were getting a match on Smackdown. Natalya again tried to attack from the back this week, too but that got countered. After a decent contest between the newbie and the veteran, it was Carmella who made tap out the Queen of Harts with her head scissors submission.
Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler vs. Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan
The main event saw the champion and the challenger squaring off against the Wyatt family. With tensions running between the both of them, we doubted how much they can co-exist. But, in the end, they overcame the new face of fear with a tremendous counter-attack. Ziggler picked up the pinfall with a superkick to Eric Rowan while Ambrose neutralized Bray Wyatt. After the main event, Ambrose connected with the Dirty Deeds to Ziggler to stand tall while Smackdown Live went off the air.
