A special episode of Friday Night Smackdown will air this week on FOX. For the first time in history, the blue brand will run a show from two spots, simultaneously as they bring the fallouts from Money In The Bank 2021. Also, the journey towards SummerSlam 2022 will begin tonight in a big way in the presence of the franchise player.
John Cena will be in the house to lay down the SummerSlam challenge in the face of Universal Champion Roman Reigns as they are on a collision course. The Women’s Title will be on the line in a rematch from last week while the Men’s MITB Ladder Match winner will also be seen in action. Plus, Toni Storm debuts on SmackDown that is scheduled to broadcast from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Rolling Loud festival in Miami, Florida.
Statistics: Charlotte Flair Creates WWE Record Over Money In The Bank Cash-In
John Cena opened this past episode of Monday Night RAW to cut a promo on the. Roman Reigns. During his big WWE return after Sunday’s Money In The Bank main event match, which saw Reigns retain his title over WWE Hall of Famer Edge, Cena simply faced off with Reigns and taunted him with the “you can’t see me!” gesture.
Over on Raw, Cena addressed his actions as he wants this pathetic Roman Reigns experience to end for the WWE Universe. That being said, he wants to face The Tribal Chief at SummerSlam 2021 for the Universal Title. To relay the message face-to-face, he’ll now travel to SmackDown, this week as we expect a mega confrontation between the two multi-time world champions.
Speaking of this championship opportunity, WWE Hall of Famer Edge was close to winning the belt unless it was for Seth Rollins who attacked him during the bygone title match. With a lot of history between these two Superstars, now the official build for a dream match begins from this week’s SmackDown. Rollins vs. Edge is reportedly happening at SummerSlam and the confirmation might just arrive tonight.
Carmella got a sudden opportunity to the SmackDown Women’s Championship, last week after Bayley was ruled out of action due to a torn ACL. Near the end of that match, Belair whipped Carmella with her hair and then hit the Kiss of Death for the pinfall victory.
After the match, Carmella mentioned that just six days was not enough for a title match preparation. She called Belair a cheater for using her hair while also noting that things between them weren’t over.

Then on the latest edition of Talking Smack, the host Kayla Braxton spoke with Belair about what Carmella had to say. The champion had no problem in handing Carmella a rematch over the title. So, the two of them will compete for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, once again this week in a match that is slated to happen from the Rolling Loud festival.
Update On Toni Storm Making WWE Smackdown Debut
Speaking of this match, the SmackDown Women’s division will receive a fresh addition to the roster when Toni Storm makes her way to the main roster. There’s no update on what WWE plans for her during the debut except for the report from PWInsider that she’ll be acting like a babyface. It’ll be interesting to see whether she gets included in the title picture, soon after the arrival.
WWE has also announced that Men’s 2021 Money In The Bank winner Big E will compete against WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews on SmackDown, continuing their rivalry. While it’s confirmed that the match will go down from the Rolling Loud festival, they did not confirm whether the IC title will be on the line or not. Can E capture more momentums in his corner when he takes on his bitter rival? We’ll find out on this latest blue brand episode on FOX.
