When it comes to WWE Smackdown, the show usually revolves around the Universal Champion who runs the entire show with authority. The reign of terror isn’t ending anytime soon but it would rather grow following the Hell in a Cell title match defense, last week. Additionally, fallouts from the gimmick-based PPV will be there on the show alongside builds for Money in the Bank 2021 when Friday’s hottest show airs from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.

In the main event of last week’s SmackDown, Roman Reigns defeated Rey Mysterio inside Hell in a Cell to retain the Universal Championship. Reigns made Mysterio tap out to a new version of the Guillotine Choke Hold submission. Interestingly, Jimmy Uso came out after the match to raise Reigns’ hand after which Reigns applied the Guillotine on Mysterio again to make him suffer with it.

WWE Clash Of Champions Reportedly Returning In September 2021

Roman Reigns continues his unstoppable reign this Friday

It appears that Jimmy Uso is already on the side of Roman Reigns, making him even stronger than ever. This is why The Tribal Chief sent a message to Rey Mysterio after SmackDown which was simple and clear,

“Go home. Stay home.
And if you come back to MY ring…
You’ll acknowledge me.”

It should be noted that Roman Reigns wished Mysterio “Happy Father’s Day” after the win in the middle of the ring. He had also already taken out his son Dominik, the week before, with a vicious Powerbomb from the ring all the way to the outside the floor. Now it’ll be interesting to see what next challenger is waiting for the champion on Smackdown. He is also set to throw a celebration on the show following his successful title defense.

Speaking of this, the new title defense for Roman Reigns may happen at Money in the Bank 2021 PPV where two separate ladder matches will be there on July 18. Qualifiers for those matches have already begun from this week’s episode of Raw. Ricochet, Riddle, and John Morrison have qualified for the men’s ladder match while Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, Naomi, and Asuka have qualified for the women’s ladder match. A few names from Smackdown will also enter the fray, tonight.

Spoiler On Edge’s Opponent At WWE Summerslam 2021

Bianca Belair vs. Bayley rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship was contested inside the Hell in a Cell structure at last Sunday’s PPV event. This change was made since the Roman Reigns vs. Rey Mysterio Hell in a Cell match was moved to last week’s show, so WWE needed another Cell match on the PPV from the blue brigade.

In a critically acclaimed match, Belair was able to defeat Bayley via a clean pinfall win in order to retain her title. This was thought to have ended the feud between the two of them, for good but it’s not. On tonight’s episode, the two will compete in a mixed tag team match with Cesaro and Seth Rollins being their respective partners. As a result, Rollins vs. Cesaro program is also likely to continue.

WWE Smackdown Preview (25/06/21): Otis and Chad Gable in momentums

Angelo Dawkins tried to get payback on Otis for his brutal attack of Montez Ford a week before. But Otis and his tag team partner Chad Gable seemed relentless than ever while pouncing on Dawkins in the middle of the ring. Another vicious two-on-one beatdown at the hands of Otis and his Alpha Academy instructor already removed Ford from action while they may have been able to keep Dawkins, out of the equation, for good.

Going by the latest reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kevin Owens has headed into a hiatus following his loss at the hands of Sami Zayn at Hell in a Cell 2021. This would happen as a result of a storyline injury to the prizefighter which might allow receiving a big push to Zayn, down the road. What new opportunities could be waiting for the great liberator? We’ll find out on this post-Hell in a Cell edition of Smackdown.
