WWE Smackdown spoilers: May 5, 2016

Chris Jericho’s highlight reel was in full force on WWE Smackdown after Stephanie McMahon reinstated it on this past week’s WWE Raw. Smackdown was taped this week from Kansas City, Missouri and Y2J kicked things off with his iconic show. Before calling his special guest for the night, Sami Zayn he continued his boasting about how he took Ambrose and his Asylum on Raw. Zayn came out but their conversation got interrupted by The Miz and Maryse. The segment leads to an encounter between the later two as Jericho left the ring.
(WWE Smackdown spoilers are from SportsKeeda.com)

Sami Zayn def. The Miz (Disqualification)
Kevin Owens was present at the commentary as he was haunting Zayn as always. He attacked Zayn in between the match to cause the disqualification. Cesaro came out for the save and thus all the four contenders for the Intercontinental Championship were present to brawl inside the ring. Cesaro stood tall before leaving the ring with the Miz’s championship belt.

Next, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were seen backstage, discussing the world title situation. They tried to convince Styles to be some edgier to confront Reigns and needed help. Styles decided he needed to talk to Reigns for some reason.

Vaudevillains def. Bo Dallas/Curtis Axel
The results came out as expected with the Vaudevillains coming up victorious. Big Cass came into the ring to bulldoze his way to everyone present in the ring. He even powerbombed Axel to finish the segment.

Natalya/Becky Lynch def. Emma/Charlotte (w/ Ric Flair)
Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter to Emma to pick up the win for the team face. After an unfortunate ending for Nattie at WWE Payback, the storyline took a good turn when Natalya locked the Sharpshooter on Ric Flair and fled away with the Naitch’s Hall of Fame ring and watch.

Rusev def. Zack Ryder
This was a quick match as anticipated, where the new number one contender for the US title picked up the win against Ryder which followed by a celebration from Rusev and Lana. Kalisto came to the ring aftermath to hit Rusev with a corkscrew before heading back to the locker room.

Anderson/Gallows (w/Styles) vs. The Usos (w/ Reigns) (no contest)
Huge boos followed before the start of the encounter which ended in a chaos. Anderson hit with a kick to Reigns’ face leading him to the ring and causing it a no contest. This led to the six-man tag team match in the main event of WWE Smackdown.

Reigns/Usos def. Styles/Gallows/Anderson
This was a rematch from WWE Raw. Reigns finished the contest after spearing Anderson while Styles was prevented from breaking the pin by one of the Usos. WWE Smackdown ended with a routine stare-down between the champion and the challenger for the WWE world heavyweight championship.
