Lots of heat and hatred was shown from the majority of the fans after Jinder Mahal won the WWE championship at Backlash. But some wrestling pundits like Brian Zane backed Jinder too.
We also took out some good sides of Jinder becoming champion. So how did the world respond to Jinder on this Smackdown? What other things took place inside the blue ropes?
The opening segment including Shane McMahon and six other Smackdown’s top stars was really great. But one thing seemed a little weak; Shane McMahon first announced a five-man Money in the Bank ladder match.
Then Kevin Owens came out and demanded to be in the ladder match, Shane McMahon agreed and made it a six-man match. What the hell was that? It was like Shane totally forgot of his mid-card champion, then Kevin had to come out and shuffle Shane’s memory. This was a weak piece of script. Otherwise, the segment was excellent.
One more thing we need to add here; we think they should give Shinsuke Nakamura a manager who could speak for him. Nakamura is an amazing wrestler but his mic work is a big drawback. Adding a manager for him would solve this problem.
We had a total of seven matches this week. Three of them did not even last for one minute. They all ended with the quick roll up pins. Now, a lot of wrestling pundits might criticise this booking, but we say, it was the good one keeping the storylines in mind.
Among those three matches, Sami Zayn beat Baron Corbin with a quick roll up pin. After the match, Corbin beat down Sami really bad. It was a great beat down, fans really sympathised Sami during it, kudos to both athletes for playing their parts perfectly.
We have a feeling that Sami might get a storyline injury due to this beat down and would get removed from this match. He would be out of the screen for a month or so and would return to seek vengeance on Corbin. On the other hand, his vacant spot gets filled by Rusev.
The fashion files drama of Breezango was pretty fun to watch. But looks like their feud with the Usos is finally over. The New Day appeared on the Talking Smack this week, they might make their Smackdown debut by next week or so to start a new feud with the Usos.
The women’s feud was well just like every week. Good to see Becky getting some wins after all she suffered. A women’s five-way elimination match had been announced for next week to determine the no 1 contender for the WWE Smackdown Women’s championship. It would be fun to watch.
On the main event, they had a great tag team match to offer. Shinsuke Nakamura had his debut match on Smackdown where he was teamed up with the Phenomenal AJ Styles. He pinned Kevin Owens first which definitely was a great push.
Final Verdict – This week’s Smackdown was very good. It was pretty fun to watch. Two major matches had been announced for Money in the Bank. One is the Money in the Bank ladder match, and the other one is the WWE championship match in which Randy Orton gets his rematch. It means like or not, Jinder will carry the WWE title for at least four weeks. Jinder’s Punjabi celebration was pretty fun to watch too. But they need to stop teasing the debut of Lana every week. She should either debut right now or never. Fans are getting really irritated with these promo packages every week.
