Intercontinental Championship picture at Summerslam changed abruptly on WWE Raw. The primary announcement from the GM confirmed a rematch from the Extreme Rules PPV event. Seth Rollins pinned Dolph Ziggler to get another shot to the mid-card title. This repetitive lineup could impress the fans, the least.
They wanted a twist in the tale for Summerslam. The biggest event of the summer certainly deserves the best thing for the fans. This is why we heard chants that said ‘we want Ambrose’ for the past few weeks. Apparently, the officials heard this loud cries and let him come back on this week’s WWE Raw.
Seth Rollins was the victim of a two-on-one situation for the past few weeks. Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre were beating him down on weekly basis. They tried to hurt the contender prior to the Summerslam show. Plus, the presence of McIntyre would certainly give an advantage to Dolph Ziggler.
The general manager came up with an idea to neutralize things. Seth Rollins got a chance to pick a partner to stand by his corner. Dean Ambrose turned out to be the name that sent the fans to frenzy. The Summerslam Intercontinental Championship match happened with this revamped scenario.
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose walked out together from the backstage to fire up the Summerslam crowd. Rollins tried to get an early pinfall attempt. Ziggler avoided it by going outside. Rollins caught him with a right hand. But the Intercontinental Champion came back with a big kick to the knee and swinging neck-breaker combo.
Dolph Ziggler threw Seth Rollins hard on the floor for multiple occasions and sent him over the barricade. But Rollins was able to come back into the ring beating the ten count of the referee. Ziggler became irate and started attacking his opponent until he ate a super-kick. Seth Rollins also tried to deliver frog splash but failed.
Drew McIntyre sent Ambrose into the steel steps at the outside. Seth Rollins digested a zig-zag but was able to kick out at two. The contender hit a Buckle Bomb after a series of roll-up attempts. Ambrose caught McIntyre with a Dirty Deeds at the outside. Inside the ring, Seth Rollins caught Ziggler with a super-kick following with a Curb Stomp for the win. He just became the new Intercontinental Champion at Summerslam.
