The tender for a new logo to be inscribed on the Indian cricket team’s jersey will be out soon as the tender of the current company i.e. Star will expire on March 31 and this time, it’ll be a race among few big companies. Looking at the current scenario and government policies, it can be understood that companies like Paytm will bid big amount as this will benefit them the most.
“All the sponsors who are attached with BCCI would be interested in grabbing this opportunity. Reliance Jio, for example, would be very keen to use this platform,” a source said TOI on Wednesday.
“The board is expecting a lot of digital players to be a part of the team sponsorship bid. Vikram Limaye was given the authority by the COA to study the details and pass it on to the CEO, Rahul Johri. The COA will meet in Delhi on February 17 to discuss the matter,” the source added.
Before Star, it was Sahara that had its logo on team India’s jersey for many years before financial crunch hit them. ‘Star’ then finalised a deal with the BCCI on January 1 in 2014 after Sahara’s exit. It has been almost three years since then and Star still finds its name on the Indian jersey.
