While fans across the country know each and every detail of Shikhar Dhawan’s cricketing career, very few know about the Indian batting star’s love life and his children.
After an indifferent batting performance in the last year, the left-handed batsman has become the toast of the nation after his starring role in this year’s Champions Trophy where he was awarded the Golden Bat for finishing the tournament as its highest run-scorer.
Recently, he was adjudged as the Man of the Series for scoring most runs in the just-concluded three-match Test series against Sri Lanka which was also his comeback series.
And it looks like, the Delhi star is not only on the cricket field but also off it, as his love story is no less than a fairy tale. Dhawan’s love-story with Ayesha Mukherjee began after he was introduced to her over the internet by none other than Harbhajan Singh.
Ayesha, who is a trained kickboxer and a sports fanatic is an Anglo-Indian, as her father is Indian and mother is of English descent. She was born in India but her family soon moved to Australia. She was once married to an Australian businessman which ended in a divorce.
But the couple did not pay any heed to the past, as Facebook conversations soon brought them closer which eventually turned into love. They got engaged in 2009 and tied the knot three years later. However, there were certain roadblocks in the relationship which might have prompted any other man to walk out of the relationship but then again the big-hearted Indian opener is an exception.
Ayesha was not only 10 years older than Dhawan and was divorced but was also a mother of two girls. But Dhawan like a true gentleman developed a cordial relationship with her daughters- Rhea and Aliyah and has been spotted several times spending times with them in the pavilions.
In 2014 the couple was blessed with a baby boy, Zoravar Dhawan, who was recently seen spending some fun time with the Indian players during the West Indies tour.
