Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were finally able to get rid of the sixth place in the points table as their victory over Middlesbrough, coupled with Arsenal’s loss at the Hawthorns saw them move into the fifth place in the points table, 5 points off Liverpool in the fourth place, having played a couple of games less than their Merseyside rivals.
The Red Devils have a decent chance of qualifying for Europe if they are able to finish the season with some consistent performances and with the Europa League also giving them a back door into the UCL, Jose Mourinho is determined to improve his squad to help the team compete with the best in Europe.
This has seen him linked with some superstars recently but Mourinho is also worried about the futures of a couple of players in the squad.
One such player who is extensively linked with an exit recently is Spanish shot-stopper David de Gea.
The former Atletico Madrid man is among the best players in his position, not just in England but also in Europe and has been Manchester United’s most consistent players in the last couple of season.
However, he has been linked with a move back to Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane desperate to replace Keylor Navas in goal this summer.
It is widely anticipated that De Gea could be lured away from the club back to his homeland and Mourinho has also identified his replacement.
The Portuguese manager was linked with the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Jordan Pickford in recent times but AC Milan sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma has been at the top of the wish list for the manager at the Old Trafford.
The 18-year old is arguably the most exciting teenager in the world of football at the moment and has already played 50 senior Serie A games for the San Siro outfit.
He is the first choice for Vincenzo Montella this season but has constantly been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester Untied the most common link alongside the Spanish giants from the Bernabeu.
However, the Red Devils are now dealt a blow as the Italian international has today squashed all the rumours about his exit and revealed that he will stay in Italy for a long time to come.
Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport recently, Donnarumma revealed, “I hope to stay because I am a Milanista.”
AC Milan are desperate to get him to sign a new contract and Donnarumma revealed that his agent will take care of the paperwork and that he is surely going to renew his deal in Italy.
“My agent will take care of the [contract] renewal.”
