The last five years in the world of football has been dominated by superstar attackers who have ramped up insane numbers of goals to stand as the top goalscorer in Europe.
Former Liverpool and Barcelona talisman Luis Suarez lifted the Golden Boot in the previous season but it was previously dominated by the La Liga duo Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have been winning it the last nine years.
However, this season has seen an array of attackers come to forth scoring consistently, which will put pressure on the Barcelona and Real Madrid stars to the trophy this season.
Though Argentine hitman Lionel Messi leads the race, he does not have a huge lead at the moment and is closely challenged by a number of star players.
Here is the current list of leading goal scorers in the domestic league in Europe:

Messi is standing at the top with 50 points but is closely followed by one Bas Dost, who has been in exceptional form this season playing for Sporting CP.
He has 24 goals in 24 games and is just a couple of points behind Messi in this race.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (23), Robert Lewandowski (21). Luis Suarez (21), Romelu Lukaku (21), and Cristiano Ronaldo (19) are all behind Messi at the top but the Barcelona man has some new names to contend with this season.
The likes of Anthony Modeste, who is enjoying a breakthrough season with Koln in the Bundesliga is also close to the top while Italian starlet Andre Belotti is one who will also scare Messi.
The Torino striker has been sublime form scoring 22 goals from 24 games this season and is also in sizzling form at the moment.
He could be a danger for Messi, who will want to run away with the award this season.
After Belotti, Edin Dzeko (21), Dries Mertens (20), Mauro Icardi (20) and Gonzalo Higuain (19) are the other representatives from the Italian league.
After Everton’s Lukaku, Harry Kane with his 19 goals just finds a way into the top 15 for this trophy.
