ICC Rankings: Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara Slip; Ravindra Jadeja Retains Top Spot 1

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli and batsman Cheteshwar Pujara have fallen in the recent ICC Test rankings, whereas Ravindra Jadeja, who won the Man of the match award in Dharamsala Test has retained the top spot with the ratings reading 898 along with Ravichandran Ashwin (865).

Kohli, who was earlier ranked fourth, has now slipped to the fifth spot with 818 ratings. The Indian skipper could just muster 46 runs in five innings in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy and also skipped the fourth Test match, which resulted in him going down the batting ladder.

On the other hand, Pujara, who was second in the rankings after Ranchi double hundred, glided down to the fourth despite scoring 57 runs in the final Test.

The Man of the Series of against Australia, Ravindra Jadeja has retained his number one position in ICC bowlers ranking along with his spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin. Jadeja bagged 25 wickets in the series, whereas, Ashwin pouched 21 wickets.

In the fast bowling department, Umesh Yadav achieved his career best ranking of 21. The seamer scalped 17 wickets in the four matches.

Steven Smith, the highest run-scorer of the series (499) has retained the top spot in batsmen rankings, while New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, who played an innings of 176 in the Hamilton Test against South Africa follows Smith in the rankings.

Sri Lanka’s stand-in skipper Rangana Herath follows Jadeja and Ashwin, whereas, pacers Josh Hazlewood and James Anderson are fourth and fifth respectively.
