After losing Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy for the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League, Delhi Daredevils have suffered another setback as their new foreign recruit Angelo Mathews will be missing the early part of the tournament, which kicks off on April 5.

The Sri Lanka skipper, who was bought by the capital-based outfit at his base price of Rs 2 crore in the players auctions last month, has been on the sidelines since sustaining the hamstring injury in the second T20I against South Africa in January and was forced to miss the following Twenty20 International series in Australia. He also missed the Test and ODI series at home against Bangladesh and is set to miss the subsequent two-match T20I series too.

The news was confirmed by BBC reporter Azam Azeem.  He also confirmed that Kusal Janith will undergo a fitness test on Monday and is likely to be included in the squad for two T20Is on 4th and 6th April respectively.

Meanwhile, Mathews has joined a big list of players who have been ruled out or are doubtful for the upcoming edition due to injuries. The likes of KL Rahul, R Ashwin have already been ruled out of the tournament while Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Umesh Yadav are doubtful for first few matches.
