In an otherwise forgettable maiden IPL campaign, the Rising Pune Supergiant had just a few moments of delight and bliss in the previous season of the IPL. The then MS Dhoni led franchise narrowly avoided the wooden spoon as they finished 7th in their first ever IPL campaign.
In that very season though, among the few positives to emerge was young Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa. Zampa, who bears striking similarities with Shane Warne in his style of bowling, took a six wicket haul in a game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Vizag in the previous season and was a consistent performer for the Supergiant franchise.
This time around as well, a lot will depend upon Zampa as he will be expected to lead the spin department in absence of the veteran R. Ashwin. En route to India for the IPL though, Zampa seemed to be in a jovial mood as he poked fun at former skipper MS Dhoni.
Making a joke out of MS Dhoni’s grey facial hair, Zampa mentioned that he was quite eager to come to India and have a look at Dhoni’s facial hair. Below, is the tweet from the leg spinner on the same.
In other news surrounding the Supergiant, skipper Steve Smith seemed quite optimistic this time around for the campaign. “The IPL will be beneficial to me. There are a lot of international players and I will get to share the dressing room with them. I will know what people from different parts of the world are thinking,” Smith said.
