Royal Challengers Bangalore had a nightmarish start to their IPL journey. The star-studded side was at the receiving end of the demolition staged by Brendon McCullum wearing the Kolkata Knight Ridders jersey in the opening match of the inaugural season which later ended in a first-round exit.
It was bad reputation for them straightaway. However, a grand improvement from the next season followed as the team, led by Kumble, went on to finish as runners-up twice in the next three seasons.
The disappointment of losing the opportunity to win the IPL honours twice may be lurking in the minds of their fans but they are satisfied that their team is finally in the reckoning. But, just when the belief was instilled, the side slumped so badly, it saw them being ousted in the first round for three consecutive seasons – 2012, 2013, 2014 before they recovered in 2015 followed by another second place finish in the last edition.
The tenth season of the IPL is just around the corner and it will be exciting to have a glance at the players from the past and present who could be a part of the RCB all-time XI.
