In cricket, they say that bowlers need to hunt in packs. But what can the bowlers do when one of their partners claim all ten wickets in an innings. And Mohammad Saif’s bowling partners were facing a similar situation when the left-arm spinner was wreaking havoc on National Athletic Club players on a turning Taltala ground in Kolkata.
Everything fell in place for the spinner from Ariadaha Sporting Club as he took all the ten wickets in a second division league match. He finished with incredible figures of 10 for 28 as Ariadaha Sporting Club defeated National Athletic Club by 28 runs on the first day of the two-day encounter.
Batting first, Ariadaha Sporting Club were bowled out for 137. In reply, the National Athletic Club’s innings could last for only 20 overs as they managed just 99.
Speaking after the match, Saif said that he was just trying to keep the things simple and exploit the turn provided by the pitch.
“It assisted spin and I was concentrating on getting turn and bounce and keeping things simple,” the said after achieving the incredible feat.
“My first target is to get the team to the first division of the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) league,” added the player who is an avid fan of the Royal Challengers of Bangalore coach and former New Zealand Spinner Daniel Vettori.
