Former Indian Batsman Virender Sehwag has given a message to his team Kings XI Punjab to play fearless Cricket just like he did in his playing days.
Sehwag said he will encourage Kings XI Punjab team to play aggressive cricket in the coming Indian Premier League season. Virender Sehwag is now serving Kings XI Punjab as team director.
Kings XI Punjab will kick off their campaign against Rising Pune Super Giants in Indore on Saturday. Kings XI Punjab, in their previous two seasons, finished at the bottom of the table. This time they have a new Captain in Glenn Maxwell and a new team director in Sehwag. Virender Sehwag said,
“We are not worried about victories or defeat. I will allow my players to play aggressive Cricket. The players of Kings XI Punjab would play fearlessly like I have played”
Kings XI Punjab will be hoping for a turnaround in their luck in this year’s IPL season. Glenn Maxwell has zero experience in leadership and it is going to be little interesting to see him taking charge of a squad.
As Viru himself explained earlier about Maxwell’s appointment as skipper like “Making a notorious kid monitor of the class” so how Maxwell handles everything in his way will be an interesting thing to know. Talking about Batsmen Viru said,
“We have good batsmen like Martin Guptill, Glenn Maxwell, Eoin Morgan, Darren Sammy and David Miller. If any two of these batsmen perform then we can easily win the match”
Virendra Sehwag also confirmed that Ishant Sharma who went unsold in the auction will be playing for Kings XI Punjab now. He told that Kings XI have added Ishant Sharma into the squad to boost up their bowling line-up. Viru is hopeful of the team doing well in this season, some of their players are in a good form unlike last year so they expect some good show from the team this year.
