Injured Sarfaraz Khan Expects To Recover In 12 Days 1

Teen sensation Sarfaraz Khan is optimistically waiting to attain full recovery from the freak leg injury he suffered a couple of days ago. The 19-year-old recently joined the depressing list of injured players in the RCB squad after he tripped over the boundary ropes during the final practice session at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He landed severely on his foot and had to be stretchered off the field. Later on, RCB head coach Daniel Vettori revealed that Sarfaraz wouldn’t be able to take part in the upcoming season.

“Owing to a leg injury during the final Bangalore-based practice session, Sarfaraz Khan will most likely be unavailable to play as a part of the RCB squad this IPL and we are evaluating the same with the BCCI,” the RCB head coach had quoted.

However, Sarfaraz’s recent post on Instagram reveals a highly positive story. He posted a picture of his injured leg and the caption indicated that he needed only 12 days to recover to his full fitness. This, however, still means that he won’t be a part of the team’s initial matches. He will most likely miss out at least 5 matches if 12 days are consumed behind his recovery.

In whatever case, the Instagram post is a happy news for RCB who will already without a couple of their star players – KL Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli. While Kohli is only expected to miss only a first few games due to a shoulder injury, Rahul has been ruled out of the entire season. South Africa’s maverick AB de Villiers will also miss the opening match due to a back trouble.

Sarfaraz, the former u-19 star, is an important cog in the RCB line-up, especially keeping in mind the recent injury worries. The right-hander has shown immense potential and has impressed everyone with his ability to play sizzling knocks in the middle order. His cool head combined with the unorthodox tricks has put him in the league of some of the best hitters in the slog overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will start their 2017 campaign against the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad at Hyderabad on April 5.
