Stanislas Wawrinka, the number 4 seed of this year’s Australian Open and the defending champion has advanced to the next stage, i.e. the semi-finals of the Australian Open 2015.

Stanislas Wawrinka was up against one of the favorites to win this year’s Australian Open and the number 5 seed Kei Nishikori. The match promised a lot and it was an amazing display of top class Tennis from both players. Kei Nishikori made people believe that having a height of 6 feet is not requirement to play Tennis as the comparatively short man worked hard to his way.

Stanislas Wawrinka’s one handed backhands with calculated risks helped him cross over the Japanese man as he had no answer to it. He broke Kei Nishikori in first two sets and won the sets easily. In the third set, which also turned out to be the last set of the match, the games were tied at 6-6 and tie breaker was called for.

Nishikori lead the tie breaker 6-1 and it was evident that Nishikori will take the set. However, Wawrinka came back from 6-1 and saved 5 set points against him to pull an amazing set and match win.

Stan Wawrinka has now qualified for the semi-finals along with Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych. Murray will play Berdych tomorrow while Wawrinka has to wait for his opponent as it can be anyone from Novak Djokovic or Marlin Raonic.
