Possible Scenario: Pakistan And West Indies Qualification Chance For 2019 World Cup! 1

To qualify directly for 2019 World Cup, Pakistan has to wrestle it hard in remainder of One-day International series against the West Indies as the scenario has been set if the hosts will thrash visitors 3-0 they will join Pakistan on 87 points and would eventually go ahead by a fraction of point in the ICC MRF ODI Rankings table.

However, both the teams are placed in eighth and ninth position respectively as the series is in progress.

The Men in Green are placed 8th with 89 rating points, according to the latest ICC ODI MRF Rankings as the West Indies have 84 points following the updated table on April 1, 2017.

It becomes pertinent that the cut-off date has been already set as September 30, 2017.

During the ongoing three-match ODI series, both the West Indies-Pakistan will be aiming to win the series – to put weight on ICC ODI Team Rankings.

The first seven teams will directly qualify for the World Cup, on the cut-off date alongside host England. Whereas, the other bottom four teams will play qualifiers to qualify for two spots for the World Cup.

A 3-0 win would have placed Pakistan at seventh position with 92 points to go past Bangladesh by a fraction of a point, but the West Indies scripted the history by chasing down the target of 309 runs, in the first ODI, in Guyana after blistering knock of Jason Mohammed (91 off 58 balls) guided the West Indies to a four-wicket win.

Bangladesh could also face the tough situation for direct qualification for the World Cup 2019 as few losses against Ireland could force them to play for the qualifiers. In 2018, the four teams will fight it out in the Qualifying tournament.

The Tigers are scheduled to play New Zealand and Ireland prior to the 2017 Champions Trophy.

On the other side, the contest on Caribbean soil has further become interesting as the visitors are trailing by 1-0 and there are many points up for grabs for both sides.

The second ODI is scheduled on Sunday between Pakistan and the West Indies at the Province Stadium in Guyana.

It is worth mentioning here that the West Indies, in their 44-year ODI history, has chased down a total of 300-plus for the first time.

The table given below elaborates how teams are listed in the points table:
