If it’s your birthday and you belong to the cricketing sphere, chances are high that you may receive a tweet from Virender Sehwag. This should be the tagline Twitter should issue in honour of the former Indian cricketer from now onwards.
Sehwag rarely misses any birthdays and makes sure to wish personalities in his own quirky style. On Saturday, it was Jatin Sapru, the popular TV journalist, who received the special tweet.
Jatin is a household name these days and has been associated with Star Sports since 2013. He has been part of the pre-match and post-match discussion of many high-profile series and ICC events. The host turns 31 years old on Saturday.
Sehwag, who likes to mock people in amusing fashion, wasn’t behind at having a go at Sapru. Viru reminded everyone of a slightly controversial incident which involved Sapru and former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar.
Sehwag tweeted: “Happy Birthday. @jatinsapru .Keep up the wonderful work aur mere hote huye inse darne ka nahi.”

Sehwag shared the video of the incident which irked Akhtar after India defeated Pakistan in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Sapru, for a few seconds, behaved in a completely unprofessional way by laughing at Akhtar with the song ‘mauka mauka’ playing in the background.
A visibly upset, the Pakistani star lost his cool and asked Sapru to focus on his job and ask questions instead of giggling immaturely.
“First you tell me, what did you just do? What did you just laugh?” Are we sitting here to discuss the match, or are we here to make fun?” asked Akhtar.
Sapru immediately tried to calm him down. Kapil Dev, the co-panellist, also tried to normalise the situation.
“Give Shoaib some time and let him cool down,” Dev told Sapru.
The incident might be a thing of past but Sehwag decided to dig it up by asking Sapru to not fear anyone, clearly taking a shot at Akhtar. Sehwag shares a very good relationship with his Pakistani counterpart but also never leaves any opportunity to mock his friend from across the border.
While this tweet was innocent and hasn’t created any controversy, Sehwag has kicked off twitter banter in the past after posting controversial comments.
His feud with English journalist Piers Morgan, which stretched for close a month’s time, was the most epic and memorable twitter banter Sehwag ever had in his ‘tweeting’ career.
