Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was left fuming over Ravindra Jadeja’s batting approach in the virtual semi-final of the Carlton Mid-ODI Tri-Series against England at Perth. Jadeja, who is currently playing his second match in Australia after missing the Test series due to a shoulder injury, played an irresponsible shot at a stage where seven crucial overs were still remaining for India.
Ganguly said:
“He should be asked as to why he played that stroke. It doesn’t help the team when you play such loose strokes at a time when Jadeja should have batted on. There were still seven overs to go.”
Ganguly also expressed that Jadeja must realize this soon that he is a senior member of the team, who actually needs to click on the big match days and secure those victories for the team.
“He should learn to play these matches more responsibly. Only then he is a good cricketer. After Dhoni’s exit, he had some work to do, but failed. He is someone who can bat…an another 20 runs would have made a big difference at the WACA. You have fight for the runs and not swing your bat like that,” Ganguly added.
