The former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has completed his first stint as a commentator in Indian Premier League and will return back home to take few weeks off. Pietersen was scheduled to commentate in first, fourth and final of IPL and he has completed his first stint a commentator in the T20 league.

 

Now, Pietersen will be returning in the fourth week of the league before again taking a break to return for the finals in the month of May. Pietersen announced his involvement in the league as a commentator last month when he tweeted the information on social media.

The 36-year old player was supposed to take part in the league but he himself pulled out in the month of February before the auction citing busy schedule. Pietersen was the part of Rising Pune Supergiants in the last season before being released by the franchise.

As a commentator, Pietersen had a great first week in IPL as he was involved in a comic discussion with MS Dhoni during the first game of Rising Pune Supergiant. Pietersen asked Manoj Tiwary, who was on the mic to tell Dhoni that he is a better golfer than him to which Dhoni replied that KP was his only Test wicket. However, Dhoni made a factual error as he does not have a wicket in Test cricket. Though Pietersen was trapped in front of the stumps but the decision was overturned by the third umpire when the batsman asked for a review.

As a player, Pietersen has been part of five IPL franchises till now as the aggressive batsman has represented Deccan Chargers, Delhi Daredevils, Rising Pune Supergiants, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In total, he has a played 36 IPL games where he has scored 1001 runs at an average of 37.07. He has also led Delhi Daredevils in past.

The tenth edition of T20 league will conclude on May 21 with the final of the tournament to be played at Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad, which is the home ground of defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.
