IPL 2017: "We Were 20-30 Runs Shorts," Reckons David Warner After Loss Against Mumbai Indians 1

After being put to bat first, the visiting side Sunrisers Hyderabad put on a competitive total of 158 on the board which could have been a big one if the team would have got a bit more aggressive start. They put 75 runs on the board in first 10 overs which could have been much more keeping mind the fact that both the players are known to be one of the best hitters.

A weak lower order failed to add quick runs later which resulted in team putting up a chase-able total on the board.

Apart from Warner and Dhawan, none of the batsmen could really charge up innings, barring a 10 ball cameo from Ben Cutting, where he scored 20 runs.

The bowling line-up did their best to defend the total but late blitz from Krunal Pandya kept this team at bay and Mumbai Indians sealed an impressive win over defending Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad by a margin of four wickets with eight balls to spare.

Here is what losing captain David Warner said at the toss –

David Warner: We were probably 20-30 short. It is a tough ground to defend. We knew there was going to be dew. The top four didn’t fire and we panicked in the first six. The ball was being hit straight to the fielders. It is tough circumstances here with the dew but the bowlers did a good job. It was something (Rashid struggling with the dew) at the back of my mind but he practiced with a wet ball and the result was only one full toss. It is always challenging to come here and beat Mumbai. But we are looking forward to playing some good cricket at Kolkata.
