UP wizards beat Kalinga Lancers 2-0 in the Hero Hockey India League at the Kalinga Stadium at Bhuvneshwar today. UP Wizards had defeated Kalinga Lancers at Lucknow 5-1 couple of days before. It was again a good performance by UP wizards. This has helped UP wizards to rise in the table. This is a good performance by UP wizard’s team which would boost their confidence in upcoming matches.

The first goal came in the 13th minute when Bob de Voogd decived Kalinga Lancers goalkeeper to give UP wizards 1-0 lead. At the end of 1st quarter it was 1-0 in favor of UP wizards.

In the second quarter Kalinga Lancers made a positive start but P Sreejesh was excellent in goalkeeping and made great saves. At the end of the second quarter it was 1-0 in favor of UP Wizards.

In the third quarter Lancers increase the tempo in play and earned a penalty corner but were unfortunate hit the goal post. It was a good display by Kalinga Lancers team but Sreejsh was great in goalkeeping. UP wizards scored the 2nd goal in the 3rd quarter when Ramandeep Singh hit a reverse flick shot giving no chance for Charter.

In the fourth quarter UP wizards got a penalty corner but Charter refereed it and to the dismay of Kalinga, decision was upheld. The Australian goalkeeper made a save, thougl to keep scoreline at the deficit of two goals. After that Kalinga Lancers got a penalty corner but did not make use of it. Kalinga lancers earned a point from the game.

UP wizards is looking good for rest of the matches but Kalinga Lancers needs to work on the game if they have to rise in the table.
