On Sunday, finally, Rohit stood up with the bat when it mattered the most. At his arrival at the crease, Mumbai was at a score of 85, still, 92 runs behind Gujarat Lions total.
The home side needed a captaincy innings from Rohit Sharma and the Indian opener did the talking with the bat as he played an innings of 40* to lead his team to a win. He stood there till the last to ensure that he sees his team getting par the winning total.
Yuvraj Singh was pretty much impressed by this performance from Rohit and he praised his teammate on Twitter and wrote –

It was the innings that Rohit Sharma needed to recuperate his tame form.
Rohit’s last international appearance came back in October 2016 in the final fifth and final ODI of the series against New Zeland. He underwent a knee surgery after that and missed a major part of the home season.
He made a comeback to competitive cricket during the Vijay Hazare Trophy where he played two games. He was selected to lead India Blue in Deodhar Trophy but pulled out of the league at the last moment due to a minor knee injury.
IPL is the only tournament where Rohit has to score runs and also has to prove his fitness so as to present a case for the Champions Trophy.
With this performance in Sunday’s game, the confidence of Rohit would have gone up which will help him in the upcoming games as well.
