Australia will enter ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in pole position in the latest Reliance ICC ODI Team Rankings which were released on Monday following its 112-run tri-series final victory over England in Perth on Sunday. Australia’s victory means that it currently holds a six-point advantage over second-placed India, who also featured in the series, and the reigning ICC Cricket World Cup champion is a point clear of South Africa who lies a further point behind on 113 points.
The biggest gainers in the ICC ODI batsmen ratings are Glenn Maxwell and James Faulkner who jumped 19 places and 14 places respectively. Maxwell is currently 17th and Faulkner is 21st.
Indian batsman Virat Kohli too slide to number 3 from number 2 after his performances in the recently concluded Carlton-Mid ODI tri-series. Shikhar Dhawan too dropped a place to number 7 after his disastrous performances. The only good news for India is that skipper MS Dhoni has jumped a place to number 8 in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings. South Africa’s AB de Villiers remains in top spot, 24 points clear of his team-mate Hashim Amla.
In the ICC ODI bowlers ratings, India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar dropped five places to 13th and Ravindra Jadeja dropped 4 places to 14th in the list. England’s Steven Finn is the largest gainer as he jumped 14 places to the twelfth spot. The table is still led by Pakistan’s banned spinner Saeed Ajmal followed by West Indian Sunil Narine. Both the players will miss the World Cup.
