It wouldn’t be wrong to assert that the brawny Chris Gayle from Jamaica has been a big reason behind the success of T20 cricket through various means. With his batting alone, the West Indian opener has won millions of hearts across the globe, and it is this very format, where Gayle’s achievements on the international fore have been truly acknowledged.
Against the Gujarat Lions at Rajkot, Gayle became the first batsman to get to 10,000 career T20 runs. Thanks to his bludgeoning half century where he ravaged into the Gujarat Lions, the Royal Challengers Bangalore finally got back to winning ways in some style.
Batting first, the visitors put on a massive 213 on board, with Chris Gayle topping the charts with a knock of 77 off 38 deliveries. Despite a brilliant attacking knock from Brendon McCullum in response, the hosts fell short.
Fans on Twitter lauded Gayle for his achievement, while also supporting the Royal Challengers. Below, are some of the tweets.
