It’s Official, Andre Schurrle leaves Chelsea to join Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in a £23 Million deal which will keep Schurrle at Wolfsburg till 2019. Andre Schurrle cost Chelsea £18m in the summer of 2013 and scored 14 goals in all competitions for the club. He fell behind Willian in the pecking order this season though and has moved back to Germany.
Schrulle to Wolfsburg will go down as one of the most followed Transfer Stories in recent times as there were so many implications involved in this deal and at one point the deal was off then it was on again. Schurrle’s deal was important for Chelsea in their pursuit of Colombian Juan Cuadrado.
There were problems over the Schurrle transfer deal. Problem was over the solidarity payment owed to clubs involved in Schurrle’s development, which is five per cent of the transfer fee. Chelsea and Wolfsburg stalled over the eventual fee which dragged the signing on and on but its done now and Andre Schurrle will get to play 90 Minutes week in week out, which he deserves.
Schurrle’s move to Wolfsburg was finally completed before the closure of the German transfer window at 5pm, allowing Cuadrado to finalis his switch to Stamford Bridge. Despite late haggling over the fee, Wolfsburg agreed to pay around £23 Million, plus add-ons, for Schurrle and the German international will earn £85,000-a-week.
Wolfsburg welcomed Schurrle by posting the following tweet on their official Twitter handle.
