IPL 2017: Darren Sammy Joins Kings XI Punjab Camp 1

West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy has joined Kings XI Punjab camp, 21 days after the start of Indian Premier League (IPL). He was purchased by the franchise in the IPL auction for his base price of 30 Lakhs but did not join the team due to unknown reasons. Neither franchise nor the IPL board has come up with any reason of why Sammy was absent from the team?

However, the captain of two times T20 World Cup winning West Indies team might find it difficult to get a place in the team. He has a race with Marcus Stoinis for a place in the team and the skipper Glenn Maxwell might continue with his countrymen.

Till now, Sammy has played a total of 22 games in IPL in which he has scored 295 runs and has taken 11 wickets. Previously, he has been part of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise as well.

Talking about the team’s performance, Kings XI Punjab is currently placed at a fifth position with three wins and four losses. The franchise kicked off the season well with two back to back wins but their form dipped as they went onto lose their next four games. KXIP finally found form against Gujarat Lions when they defended a total of 189.

Kings XI Punjab will play their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 28.
