Gujarat Lions have ensured that they keep their good form on track after winning their game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The result meant the Lions have won their third game this season and are finally looking to found the right balance to their side.
Having won the toss and elected to bowl first, Gujarat bowlers Nathu Singh and Basil Thampi restricted RCB before they removed Virat Kohli. The men from the south lost three wickets in four balls before being reduced to 22/3 courtesy of Andrew Tye. Pawan Negi and Kedar Jadhav remained the only positives from their batting as Royal Challengers Bangalore were bowled out at 134 at the end of 20 overs.
Andrew Tye was the pick of the bowlers as he managed 3/12 in his 4 over spell. Having to chase down only 135 on a Bangalore wicket, Gujarat did not get the ideal start as they were reduced to 23/2 in the fifth over. But Suresh Raina and Aaron Finch have ensured that Lions have gone past the small target with comfortable ease at the end.
Speaking after their impressive win, Suresh Raina said:
“We have done really well in all departments. AJ, Faulkner and Jadeja bowled really well. Baz and Kishan started well, and then Finchy batted beautifully. Wicket was doing something with the new ball.
“Team effort today. Basil and Nathu were very accurate. Very happy today. He was telling me to just stay there. We haven’t done well in bowling department, we can still improve. The combination was brilliant today. Smith is a team player, he’s done well for us. Jimmy and AJ they played very well for couple of years in the IPL. This win will give us a lot of confidence moving forward.”
