WWE Raw May 1, 2017 Results 1

The show started as the RAW women wrestlers were seen standing inside the ring. Jojo introduced the Raw Women’s champion, Alexa Bliss. Alexa Bliss came out to the ring. Alexa did what she does best, she cut an excellent promo. She said that women came out to the ring and claimed to be the queen. Alexa Bliss claimed that she was actually the goddess of WWE.

She addressed all the women standing inside the ring one by one, starting with Mickie James, followed by Sasha Banks and Nia Jax. She made fun of everyone but Nia. At the end, she addressed Bayley. She made fun of Bayley as she could not take it anymore and attacked Alexa. All the women started fighting each other.

Match 1 – Eight Woman Tag Team Match – Bayley, Sasha Banks, Mickie James and Dana Brooke vs. Alicia Fox, Emma, Nia Jax and the Raw Women’s champion Alexa Bliss

Surprisingly, the match was booked for fifteen minutes. We do not see women’s match for so long on a weekly show often. For the match, it was okay. Certainly not the best match of the night, but it was enjoyable. It was booked in an old school style. Bayley once again made a botch in this match. She botched her own finisher on Alexa which is not a good look for her. The commentators sounded a little clueless when she botched it as the veteran Michael Cole addressed the move as Suplex. Alexa Bliss picked up the win over Bayley with a DDT.

Winners – Alicia Fox, Emma, Nia Jax and the Raw Women’s champion Alexa Bliss

Match 2 – Enzo Amore vs. Luke Gallows

As Enzo and Cass were cutting their regular promo inside the ring, they were attacked Gallows and Anderson. As Enzo and Cass survived the sneak attack the match started finally. It was a good and entertaining match. Luke Gallows totally dominated the match. As Enzo was finally getting the control of the match, Karl Anderson created the distraction as Gallows got the quick win.

Winner – Luke Gallows

Seth Rollins came out to the arena. He talked about his victories over Triple H at WrestleMania and Samoa Joe. Next, he asked for ‘the Beast’ Brock Lesnar for the Universal championship. Finn Balor interrupted him. Balor reminded Rollins that he became the first ever Universal champion by beating Seth Rollins. So he deserved the title shot more than him. Intercontinental champion Dean Ambrose interrupted them now. He said as Brock is not available IC title was the no 1 pride of Raw and he demanded some action. Miz interrupted next. He claimed for the Intercontinental championship. Miz cut an amazing promo as he mocked the other three men standing inside the ring. At the end of the segment, a triple threat match was made between Finn Balor, Seth Rollins and Miz to determine the no 1 contender for the Intercontinental championship.

Match 3 – Tony Nese, Brian Kendrick and Noem Dar vs. Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa and Rich Swann

Cruiserweight action time. As always it was a very entertaining match. Like every six-man tag team match, it had a similar style of booking, but it was good we must say. Jack Gallagher picked up the win for his team over Brian Kendrick with a Gentleman’s dropkick.

Winners –Akira Tozawa, Jack Gallagher and Rich Swann

Sheamus and Cesaro came out to the arena. Sheamus cut a great heel promo. Their explanation for their action last night sounded really legit. They said that they expected to be appreciated by the fans at WrestleMania, but all the fans stood behind the Hardy Boys. And that was the reason they beat down the Hardy boys last night.

Match 4 – Heath Slater vs. Apollo Crews

This match was nothing special. Just another undercard match where the stronger looking superstar picked up the win.

Winner – Apollo Crews

Raw general manager Kurt Angle came out to the arena. Angle talked about the match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman from Payback.

He said both wrestlers picked up major injuries. Bray Wyatt interrupted Angle. Bray entered the ring and talked about his match with Randy Orton from Payback. He said that he set Monday Night Raw as his new home. He teased a feud with the authority next. It could be a good thing, we had been looking for this feud from quite a long time.

Match 5 – Austin Aries vs. TJ Parkins

Another cruiserweight action as Austin Aries took on the first ever Cruiserweight champion TJ Parkins. This was one of the better matches of the night. Most of the match was dominated by Austin Aries who picked up the win via submission. After the match, TJ Parkins beat down Aries’ injured left knee.

Winner – Austin Aries by submission

Main Event – Triple Threat Match to determine the no 1 contender for the Intercontinental championship – The Miz vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor

It indeed was a legit main event. It was booked for almost thirty minutes and it was an amazing match! What a match it was! Seriously amazing! Miz had been the common target for both babyface wrestlers. But finally, tables turned as it became anyone’s game. They did a nice job in booking this match. There were ‘this is awesome’ chant all the way and it rightfully deserved it. There was interference from Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt at the end which led to a victory for Miz.

Winner – The Miz (New no 1 contender)
