Home side Delhi Daredevils won the toss and decided to bowl first, keeping in the mind the result of the game that they won while chasing the target. The stand-in skipper Karun Nair continued to lead the side in absence of Zaheer Khan, who is yet to recover from the hamstring injury.
Delhi side made three changes to the side as Jayant Yadav, Chris Morris and Angelo Mathews made way for Shahbaz Nadeen, Delhi debutant Marlon Samuels and pacer Pat Cummins.
On him another hand, Gujarat Lions surprisingly went with an unchanged squad, which meant that there was no place for Irfan Pathan.
Both the teams have chances of making it to the playoffs but have to win their remaining games in order to be in the race.
Here is what both the captains said at the time of the toss –
Raina: We would have loved to bowl first here. But we just have to go out there and put runs on the board, and the rest is upto the bowlers. We just have to go there and express yourself. Go there with the right approach and enjoy the game. We are playing with the same eleven.
Karun: We are bowling first. We did well last game and there will be dew later on, so I prefer chasing. We gained momentum by winning the last game. We want to take one game at a time and enjoy ourselves. Three changes: Morris, Mathews, Jayant OUT. Cummins, Samuels and Nadeem are in.
