IPL 2017: Watch: David Warner Refuses To Walk Even After Edging The Ball To Wicketkeeper 1

Chasing 155 to make it to the playoffs, Sunrisers Hyderabad were in a precarious position against Gujarat Lions when two of their key players- Shikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques- departed with only 25 runs on the scorecard. However, their captain David Warner shouldered the responsibility from there on and found an able partner in Vijay Shankar.

Both the batsmen kept the scorecard ticking with ones and twos to take their team’s total to 71 for 2 before the strategic time-out was called after the end of nine overs. With his team in dire need of a breakthrough, Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina handed the ball to leg-spinner Ankit Soni. The move paid dividends straight away as Soni succeeded in inducing an edge from the dangerous David Warner on the very third ball of the first over after the time-out. But this is where the whole drama began unfolding.

As soon as Warner’s edge went into the safe gloves of Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps, Soni began celebrating and was soon joined by his wicketkeeper as he too raised his arm in the air to celebrate. However, the umpire surprisingly failed to pick up the edge and gave his decision in the favour of the batsman much to the anger of Karthik who expressed his frustration by throwing the ball.  Captain Suresh Raina did not look pleased either with the howler as he was seen saying something to the umpire.

On the other hand, David Warner, realising the importance of his wicket, did not even bothered to leave the field before Munaf Patel, who was standing at the short fine-leg, approached him for a conversation which was as friendly as anyone can expect.

The decision turned out to be a huge game-changer as Warner went on to score 65 runs and added an unbeaten partnership of 133 runs with Vijay Shankar (63) to guide his team to an 8-wicket victory.
