With a win over Kings XI Punjab in today’s game, the home side Rising Pune Supergiant climbed to the second position on the points table to book a date with Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
It was an easy win for Pune, thanks to a superb piece of bowling from their bowlers as the duo of Shardul Thakur and Jaydev Unadkat mad the early damage from which the Punjab side could never ever recover during the course of the game.
Thanks to an innings from Axar Patel of 22 in the later part that helped Punjab to put 73 on the board or we could have witnessed the team being folded even a total lower than this.
Chasing the target was never going to be difficult for them and as expected, Pune chased down the target with the loss of just one wicket. Though winning the game could have been sweeter if Rahul Tripathi wouldn’t have lost his temper. But never mind, it was the win in the shootout where Pune drew the win and climbed to the second spot, to assure that they have two chances to qualify for the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Twitter was not amused by a below par performance from Punjab side and roasted them for their poor performance. Here are some best of the tweets –

To qualify for #IPL2017 playoffs, KXIP needs to break Himachal's record (78/10 v Services, 2013) of lowest defended total in Twenty20s.
