As soon as Jaydev Unadkat took the catch of his own bowling to send back Lendl Simmons, commentator Matthew Hayden was heard saying ‘phenomenal catch’ and well no one argues against it.
The in-form fast bowler continued his red-hot form in the final of the Indian Premier League too by giving Rising Pune Supergiant a flying start against Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad.
After conceding just three runs in first over, too withUnadkat sent back the in-form Parthiv Patel on the very first ball of his second over and three balls later he piled more misery on the two-time IPL champions by dismissing their other opener, Lendl too with a gem of a catch.
The left-arm pacer, who had picked up 21 wickets prior to the final, bowled a off-cutter which went to the batsman after sticking a bit to the ground. Consequently, Simmons, who was looking to play a flick, could not time the ball and it went towards the bowler after taking a thick edge. However, there was still a lot to be done as the ball was looking destined to fall short ahead of Unadkat. But the Supergiant pacer stuck out his left hand and fortunately pouched the tough chance. The score at that time was only 8 runs.
Here is a clip of the brilliant catch:
