The first episode of the surprising pay per view event Backlash is on the doorsteps. None of the matches of Backlash were really fabulous but overall, it was a good show.
Definitely, it was better than Payback. The biggest upset of the event was the main event. Jinder’s victory was really shocking. A jobber suddenly became the WWE champion. They do not do such things very often.
This thing might not attract the majority of fans but everyone is waiting to see Smackdown right now. To see how they build up Jinder Mahal’s next path. Will they continue his feud with Randy Orton, or will they give him a new opponent? Rusev was looking for a title shot at MITB, maybe they are planning Rusev vs Jinder Mahal with Rusev turning face?
The match between Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin was pretty good too. We have seen some of the fans are complaining about Sami winning the match clean. But what is wrong with it? If you think closely, losing this match would not offend Corbin’s career much, but Sami had to win this match else it would have been a complete burial for him.
Sami might not be winning this feud, but he needed this win. It won’t bury him afterwards.
Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles turned out to be the best match of Backlash. Both athletes performed well, AJ was superb in this case. Time after time he kept proving himself, hopefully, he will get pushed into the main event scene very soon.
For Owens, he played his part perfectly. The booking was cool, it was a classic heelish victory. It will be interesting to see how they continue this feud.
About the Shinsuke Nakamura – Dolph Ziggler feud, we think they stop it. As Money in the Bank edging closer, both of these athletes should be in the match. This will make the match look good and their feud will continue. They do not need to fight each other one on one anymore.
The three on three women’s feud is going really well. We think this is high time to make Lana debut and join the Welcoming Committee or the face side. It is rumoured that Nikki Bella is coming back soon, she can join the either side too. It would be better if she joins the heel side. This will be the only way to make them look a little stronger.
