Ajax Troll Manchester United On Twitter Ahead Of Their Clash In Europa League Final 1

Manchester United finished sixth in the league points table but they do have a shot at Champions League football as they managed to step into the finals of the Europa League this season.

The Red Devils had an easy run in the knockout stage of the tournament, where they faced the likes of St Etienne, Anderlecht and Celta Vigo to book their place in the finals of the competition.

They face Dutch giants Ajax in this game, on Wednesday and it is beyond doubt, their most important fixture this season.

United stitched a 25-game unbeaten run in the middle of their league campaign but that was not enough to get them close to a place in the top-4 leaving them with this game in Stockholm as their only chance to make this season a success.

The Red Devils have already won the League Cup earlier this season but a win in the Europa League final is much more important as the winner of the tournament will enter the group stage of the Champions League next season.

It will not be easy for the English club that is missing the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo, two players who have been integral this season and Ajax did not miss out on a chance to troll them through social media.

The Dutch club’s official twitter handle started a friendly banter with the Premier League outfit, reminding them that they have not won the Europa League in their history.

Mourinho has a chance to make it right in a couple of days’ time but Ajax seem to be confident and they posted this on twitter:

“Hi @ManUtd, we’ve heard something’s missing in your Trophy Cabinet! And we would like to keep it that way!,” the Eredivisie side Tweeted.

But that was just the start of the conversation.

Manchester United did not want to be left behind and their official Twitter account retaliated with a smart response. They wrote: “Our cabinet is already pretty full, but don’t worry – we can always make more room”

It is always good to see clubs involved in such banter and Ajax finished it off, by wishing them the best for the game on Wednesday.

Ajax have not played a game in almost 10 days as their domestic season came to an end couple of weeks ago.

United, on the other hand, have injury issues all around and this might be the difference on the night.
