The Indian skipper Virat Kohli, today again, moved towards MS Dhoni seeking his advice during the practice game against New Zealand. It seemed like he was seeking an advice from the former captain of Indian cricket team regarding the field setting. Dhoni too heard Kohli’s words deeply and just moved his face giving a confirmation to Kohli.
This was not the first time when we have seen Kohli turning towards Dhoni for his advice. Ever since the day Kohli took over the captaincy, he has been seen moving towards the senior mate for his piece of advice. In the limited-overs series against England as well, we saw Kohli taking the advice of MS Dhoni at crucial stages of the game.
In fact, there was sometimes a situation when fielders were getting instructions from both Kohli and Dhoni which surely created a confusion in the Indian team about whom to listen and whom to ignore. But it is the fact that without MS Dhoni’s guidance, Kohli can’t succeed at this stage on his own as Dhoni too at the early stage of his captaincy had players like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to guide him.
Now Kohli is at the position of Dhoni where he needs to get the advice of his senior mate as we know that Dhoni is known for his sharp mind and techniques to turn the game. Whether talking of handing last over of T20 World Cup 2007 to Joginder Sharma to going defensive against Lasith Malinga in the penultimate over of tri-series in 2013 to go big later, Dhoni has everything in his bag which Kohli can search and reap benefits from.
