New Zealand Rolled under the carpet for just 189 after being unable to deal with the disciplined bowling performance from India led by Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first practice game at the Kennington Oval, London.

It was a below par batting performance from New Zealand who looked in all sort of problems on flat track which offered very little help to the bowlers. The decision to bat first after winning the toss definitely backfired.

Only opener Luke Ronchi (66 from 63 balls) and NO. 8 James Neesham (46*) could show some resilience and registered respectable knocks while other just withered away helplessly.

From start till the end, India kept striking at regular intervals to restrict the New Zealanders from getting a grip over the proceedings.

The pre-tournament game allows both the side to field their entire squad if they wish to. But, India has entered the game with only 13 men as opener Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh were left out. Rohit is currently in India for a personal event whereas Yuvi is bed ridden with viral fever.

Shami began the proceedings with the wicket of Martin Guptill., taking him out in the 3^rd over for just 9 runs. Mohammad Shami put himself in a position of taking a hat-trick after he snapped Skipper Kane Williamson (8) and No. 4 Neil Broom (2) off successive deliveries in the 9^th over. Shami was unable to register a hattrick but he did a great deal of damage and let his teammates benefit from it.

The middle order was taken care of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the spinning duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Corey Anderson, Mitchell Santner and Colin de Grandhomme failed to help the recovery of the side.

Only James Neesham looked to be batting with some intent. As he stood not out at 46 while witnessing the tail enders go back to the pavilion one after another.

Indian should not feel much trouble chasing the pea sized target and should win it confortably
