With the ongoing Champions Trophy in England, Indian Team management is in a lot of news due to the rumours of the on-going rift between Indian Coach Anil Kumble and the players.
Kumble’s coaching tenure was rumoured to get extended till 2019 World Cup considering the fact that the Indian team has performed well under his watch. But Virat Kohli and some other players seem to differ, as it is being rumoured that the differences have been made between both the parties.
BCCI’s advisory panel of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman – will now be expected to look into the matter between Kumble and Kohli’s men. The advisory committee has been entrusted with the job of naming the next India coach.
Sources said Kohli had a word with Ganguly after the practice game against New Zealand on Sunday and may have discussed the issue at length.
But, former India captain, Sourav Ganguly seems to be in total black about this rift. He said,
“I don’t know what is going on between Kohli and Kumble and this is not the right time to speak about all this”
The prince of Kolkata also voiced the fact that the coach should help the captain but it’s the job of the skipper to play his parts on the field.
“A coach’s job is to help the captain. I am a firm believer that the captain is the man to run the show and a coach must be there to support him” he added. “If India doesn’t play well in Champions Trophy, the coach will be criticised.”
The BCCI has already sent out an invite, asking former cricketers to apply for the Indian coaching hot-seat. By doing so, the BCCI made it clear that Kumble won’t be given an automatic extension. Also, the advisory board has been summoned to clear all the airs between the coach and players.
