Only thrice in the history of ODI Cricket there has been a partnership of 300 and above. While the first two came from an Indian pair, the third and the most recent one of all has come from the West Indian pair and they have finally broken the 16 year old record. The 2015 ODI World Cup has been a fortress for the batsmen and this partnership, which also includes a double century from Chris Gayle only makes it better for batsmen while worse for bowlers!

Let us take a look at list of highest batting partnerships in One Day Internationals:

Chris Gayle’s innings of 215 and a century (133) from Marlon Samuels took the West Indian score to 372 after the team had lost their 1st wicket for no runs. This partnership is not only the best in World Cup but also the highest ever in One Day Internationals.

This partnership broke the record of highest partnership earlier held by Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar of 331 runs against New Zealand in the year 1999. Chris Gayle started his innings slowly and there was many speculations on him for his form but today he has hit back on everyone and hit back very hard. He also became the 3rd player in the history ODI cricket to hit a double century and the first one in the World Cup.

We feel this is just the beginning of Gayle Storm in this World Cup and there ar emany more to come. What do you think will be next record that will be broken by Gayle?
