The Jamaican giant, Christopher Henry Gayle played one of the best innings in ODI cricket against Zimbabwe and there were a sea of records registered in the match thanks to the big man. Gayle made a slow start to his innings and reached his century in 105 deliveries but after that, the real onslaught came into effect and there were a sea of boundaries.
Chris Gayle smacked as many as 16 sixes in the innings and 10 fours in total. He finally reached to a score of 215 runs off 147 deliveries when he was finally dismissed in the last delivery of the innings. It was indeed a classy innings from the giant. And it is also the first ever double hundred by an individual in World Cup Cricket.
Also, not only that, it is the first double ton in an ODI innings by a non-Indian. But somewhere down the line, India is related to this double ton even. Surprisingly, the bat which Gayle used today has been manufactured from Jalandhar, India. It is reported that prior to the World Cup, Gayle wanted to have his bat suited for the Australian conditions and it was made accordingly by the Spartan Sports at Jalandhar.
Gayle broke a sea of records today and also became the player to reach to 200 runs in an innings in the fastest possible time. Also, with the destructive knock today, Gayle stands as the highest scorer in this World Cup as of now.
The President of the Spartan Sports, Jyoti Sharma said that it was indeed a brilliant knock by the big man and also it was an innings which every cricket fan would love to watch over and over again.
