To call the India-Pakistan match at Birmingham on Sunday just a mauling from India would be a bit of an understatement.
More than a mauling alone, it was a royal thrashing inflicted by India upon Pakistan in front of a jam-packed stadium. Not even for a moment in the game, did Pakistan seem to be in control of the proceedings. There was no intent at all from the men in green and once India put up a daunting total on the board, it was for all to see, as Pakistan didn’t even bother to put up a fight.
In all, it was an absolute classless and shambolic performance from Pakistan and it came as no surprise that they are languishing at the 8th spot in the ICC Team Rankings. If they persistently play such a dismal brand of ODI cricket, their direct qualification for the 2019 World Cup could well be under the scanner.
