The Jamaican cricket legend Brian Lara, labeled Abraham Benjamin de Villiers as a better international batsman than Chris Gayle. Proteas batsman AB De Villiers has been in great shape in International cricket World Cup 2015 as he secured his status as the most destructive batsman in cricket with a glorious devastating unbeaten 162 runs from just 66 deliveries to lead South Africa to a record 257-run triumph over West Indies on February 27th at Sydney.

Lara praised Ab De Villiers, who continued his one-man crusade to redefine the definition of limited-overs batting with the quickest devastating ton in One Day Internationals on the Sydney pitch and the fastest 150 runs off just 64 balls.

Using his full collection of shots in a classic display of batting, he whipped the West Indies bowlers with 8 sixes and 17 boundaries in a 104-minute knock that will live long in the memory. His last 50 runs appeared in just 12 deliveries and brought the 23,612 spectator at a sun-bathed Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) to their feet shouting “AB!, AB!, AB!”.

Brian Lara said that he is among the best One Day International batsmen he has ever seen and just for his utter consistency, and he rated Ab De Villiers higher than Gayle, and also added that he can get runs against all attacks and that is brilliant.

On February 24th, Chris Gayle, who got the first double ton in a World Cup against Zimbabwe in Canberra, continued to be inconsistent in a crucial match. The Jamaican legend hopes of any kind of retort to the carnage wrought by AB De Villiers rested largely in the hands of Chris Gayle, who had contributed to his team’s good start by taking 2 wickets in the 30th over to lower South Africa to 146-3.
