Dhaka Dynamites have roped in the former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson for the fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). This will be Watson’s first stint with a team in BPL.

The 35-year-old all-rounder has been plying his trade in the various T20 league since his retirement from international cricket. He recently led Royal Challengers Bangalore during IPL 10 in few of the games in absence of Virat Kohli. Prior to IPL, he also played PSL for Islamabad United and was a member of Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League 2016/17.

The former Australian skipper played a total of 59 Tests, 190 ODIs and 58 T20Is, with his last international game coming against India during the T20 World Cup 2016 in Mohali.

Talking of Dhaka Dynamites, the Dhaka-based franchise has been the member of the league since its inception. The team emerged as the champions of the tournament on two consecutive occasions in 2012 and 2013 whereas again regained the trophy under the leadership of Shakib Al Hasan in 2016. Watson being added to the team will be a big boost for them and he will also be a big contender for captaincy as well.

Meanwhile, in another news related to the tournament, Khulna Titans have roped in Mahela Jayawardene as their coach of the side, after his successful stint with Mumbai Indians in his very first year with the side.

The fifth edition of the T20 league will kick off from November 2 with a grand opening ceremony on November 2.
