A spirited Indian bowling attack restricted South Africa for just 191 runs after Virat Kohli had sent the Proteas to bat first in the match 11th of ICC Champions Trophy.
Only the openers, Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock showed some resistance who scored 53 and 35, respectively. Their opening partnership was of 76 runs. From 140/2, the South African lost their last eight wickets for just 75 runs in 98 balls which included three run-outs. They bowled well against Pakistan but failed miserably against Sri Lanka.
In fact, none of the bowlers except Bhuvaneshwar Kumar could get any wicket in the game against the Islanders. Against South Africa, it took the India 18 overs to get their first wicket – with Ashwin getting the prize scalp of Hashim Amla.
India displayed a commendable all-round performance on the field. After India won the match and stormed into the semis, India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh tweeted, congratulating team India for their victory.
He tweeted,
“Top win guys @BCCI vs @OfficialCSA Big congratulations Team india Go for the ”
