Louis van Gaal wants to be the Manchester United boss for five years, after falling in love with the club, reports Mirror.

The Dutchman arrived at the Old Trafford earlier this season on a three-year contract, but intends to extend his stay beyond his current contract.

Van Gaal reportedly met Manchester United’s American owners Bryan, Avram and Joel Glazer after their 3-1 win home win over Burnley in February, where the 63-year-old proposed of his plans for the club until the end of the current decade.

And the Glazer’s family were so impressed by the Dutchman, that they are open to extend van Gaal’s initial three-year stay with two more.

Despite van Gaal’s desire to stay with the Red Devils, much depends if the Dutchman can propel the Red Devils to a Champions League berth.

His charges are now third in the table, having played a game more than 4th placed Arsenal, and insisted that he ‘can’t predict a top four finish’ but hopes his team are ‘still there at the end of the season’ after they beat Sunderland 2-0 at home.

Albeit United’s recent unconvincing patchy form, the Glazer’s are unfazed by the contemporary outcome, and said to have agreed with Van Gaal’s assessment that the squad needs a major re-building, which would need at least two years.

Now into the 9th month with the club, Van Gaal has told his close friends that he is as happy in Manchester as he’s ever been on his managerial expeditions, and is clear that Manchester United will be his last club.

Along with the indication of staying beyond his current contract, summer transfer strategies were also discussed.

Van Gaal is rumored to be handed a £245m transfer kitty, having being linked to targets such as Kevin StrootmanMats HummelsMarquinhos and Paul Pogba.
