Sri Lanka medium fast bowler Suranga Lakmal was fined this Sunday for having bowled two successive deadly beamer deliveries at England‘s Jos Buttler during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup match at Wellingtonfor which he showed almost no remorse though, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said.

The fierce incident took place in the 50th and final over of England’s innings in their World Cup clash against the all but mighty Sri Lankans when Suranga Lakmal bowled a second consecutive high and full pitched ball to English batsman Jos Buttler, even after being given a first and final warning by the on field umpire Rod Tucker earlier during the same over.

Lakmal was reportedly being stopped from bowling immediately at Wellington’s Westpace Stadium and the incident and it’s unsued case was never the late been reported to the match referee David Boon for his dangerous and unfair means of delivery throwing of the ball while bowling. He was also fined as high as thirty percent of his match fee after he pleaded guilty to be breaching the ICC cricket convention rules that relate to the conduct of the cricketers contrary to the spirit of the game.

While making his decision, he obviously took into account that it was dangerous and unfair practice of pace bowling, but there were no mitigating circumstances though, and nevertheless there was no remorse from the bowler’s side as well, said the former Australia top notch batsman and the match referee for the assigned match, David Boon. Sri Lanka though had won the match by nine wickets and all the courtesy goes to the Sri Lankan opener Lahiru Thirimanne and the Sri Lankan legend Kumara Sangakkara for their gracious centuries, although however Lakmal ended with expensive figures of one for 71 from 7.4 overs.
