The India-Bangladesh rivalry has shaped up nicely since the 2015 World Cup quarterfinal when some close umpiring calls went India’s way as the Men in Blue had gone on to defeat the Tigers.
Just like the Indian fans, the Bangladeshi fans are really passionate about the game and have always supported their team irrespective of the results on the field.
But in doing so, the Bangladesh fans have given the Indo-Bangladesh rivalry a new dimension albeit in a manner that has attracted severe criticism for them. Instead of only supporting their team wholeheartedly, the fans have gone overboard in showing their love for their team which has led to some nasty episodes. In the last couple of years, the Bangladeshi fans have released a series of cartoons and photoshopped images to disrespect the Indian players and as both the teams are gearing up for the semifinal match in Edgbaston, the fans have got back to their old tricks.
Recently, a derogatory cartoon, showing a tiger draped in Bangladeshi flag leaping over a dog draped in an Indian tri-colour went viral on the social media.
The Indian fans, on their part, have maintained a dignified stand on the whole issue but just ahead of the semifinal clash, they decided to give it back to their Bangladeshi counterparts. They took to Twitter to give the Bangladeshi fans a taste of their own medicine. Here are some of the best messages:
Dear Bangladeshi, don't troll Yuvraj Singh, once Andrew Flintoff also tried the same during T-20 WC 2007.#INDvBAN
