Premier League will be at its most unpredictable and most exciting as we head for yet another round of midweek action. Part of the reason for this unpredictability is the entire atmosphere in which the midweek fixture are played.
It’s night with lights on, teams have fewer days of rest and it is something which does not come naturally to most of the teams in the league. We have had some memorable midweek games over the years and we expect nothing different when teams face each other in Gameweek 28 of the Premier League coming this Tuesday and Wednesday.
We take a look at potentially 5 key things to expect from Gameweek 28 in the league.
Chelsea could end Big Sam’s time at Upton Park with a huge win
Chelsea will come in to this game with a League Cup triumph behind their back. Chelsea will have the luxury if resting players later this week as they are no longer involved in the FA Cup this season. This will allow Jose Mourinho to field his strongest side and that can not be a good news for West Ham and Sam Allardyce.
Big Sam has been battling his critics all season long. Despite taking the hammers in distance of European football, West Ham fans are not fully convinced about Allardyce’s tactics and want him out. Chelsea can spell the end for Big Sam at Upton park if they manage to secure a big win against them on Wednesday night.
Wayne Rooney to continue his love-affair with Newcastle
Over the years, Rooney has scored 12 league goals against Newcastle United. This tally must ring alarm bells around Collocini and Co. Add to their misery, Rooney is once again back playing at his preferred center forward role and is in goal-scoring form as well. Rooney has already netted 11 goals this season and since it’s Newcastle I do expect him to enjoy a goal-laden week for Wayne Rooney.
Danny Ings to pass his Anfield audition
Danny Ings has been a constant name linked with a move to Liverpool next summer. Reports have emerged in last few days about how Ings flew to Spain to reject an advance from Spanish side Real Sociadad as he has set his sights on a move to Anfield.
Tuesday could be the perfect time for Ings to come up with his final audition to convince Brendan Rodgers to sign him next summer. Ings has been in good goal-scoring form lately and a goal against Liverpool would make his move almost impossible to doubt.
Manchester City to take all their frustration out on Leicester
Those Leicester City defenders will not be having peaceful sleeps as they are fully aware of what awaits them next, it’s Manchester City. As we all know, City have suffered two back-to-back 2-1 defeats recently (against Barcelona and Liverpool).
City stars will be desperate to get a positive result under their belt and it could come at the expense of Leicester City. I expect the likes of Sergio Aguero, Wilfried Bony, David Silva and Yaya Toure to have a feel day at Etihad and at least 4-5 goals for the home side.
Gylfi Sigurdsson to comeback and hurt Tottenham
Sigurdsson was once again a Swansea player in the summer of 2014 when Spurs decided to let go of Sigurdsson in an exchange deal to sign Swansea’s left-back Ben Davies. Spurs had spend a massive 8.8 million on Sigurdsson which saw man from Iceland play 58 games and score 8 goals for Spurs.
Ever since joining Swansea, Sigurdsson has been in amazing form this season assisting in 8 goals for Gary Monk’s side and how he would love to put one over his former Employers.
